A group of eight guys from Solent City Chorus – performing as the North Island Ferrets – put on a star performance at the Isle of Wight Music Festival on 6th March.
Competing in the “Small Groups” class, the Ferrets were awarded an “Outstanding” classification by adjudicator Irene Grant-Jones, and against stiff competition walked off with the Hodgkins Cup. Ms Grant-Jones praised the group’s beautiful harmonies, lovely dynamics and the warmth of the voices.

The full chorus also had a good night, coming 2nd in three other classes and achieving an “Outstanding” ranking in one of them.
For Richard Searle, a long standing member of Solent City, the Ferrets’ win was a fitting way to mark his last appearance with the club before he moves to East Sussex. We wish him continued success wherever he takes that velvet baritone voice.
