Solent City enjoyed a great day out at the beautiful Christchurch Priory on 19 th July, competing in the Bournemouth Performing Arts Competition. 
Against very strong competition, the guys achieved 2nd place in the “Choral singing – music from the shows” category, and 3rd in two other classes.

Adjudicator Mark Burstow praised Solent’s “lovely warm sound” and delightful chording. But his highest praise came in response to the guys’ version of the old Elvis Presley number “I want you, I need you, I love you”. Solent’s bass section was so good stylistically, according to Mark, that he reckoned he could be listening to the Jordanaires.

For younger readers, they were Elvis’s vocal backing group from his very early days right through until the early 1970s. Praise indeed!
